Biography

Jennifer Lee is a Scientist II at the HNRCA. Her research focuses on understanding how interactions between the gut microbiome and intestinal epithelium contribute to the regulation of host metabolism and aging processes. Her lab uses a combination of mouse genetics, molecular biology, and microscopy to determine the effects and mechanisms by which diet and nutrition impact function of the gut microbiome and specific cell types within the gastrointestinal tract. The overall goal of her research is to identify nutrition and gut-based interventions that can prevent obesity and promote healthy aging throughout the lifespan.

Prior to joining the HNRCA, she was awarded an NIH K01 Career Development Award, and was a Staff Scientist II in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
