Biography

Jennifer Lee, PhD, is a Scientist II in the Metabolism & Basic Biology of Aging directive at the HNRCA. Dr. Lee's research focuses on understanding how changes in gut health and sex-specific differences impact host metabolism across the lifespan. Her work uses a combination of rodent models, cell-based assays, and molecular biology techniques to determine the mechanisms by which diet impacts function of the gut microbiome and different types of intestinal cells, and understand how these gut-based interactions regulate glucose homeostasis and energy balance. The long-term research goal is to identify nutritional and gut-based interventions that can prevent metabolic disease and promote healthy aging throughout the lifespan.

Dr. Lee is a Research Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. She is a member of the American Diabetes Association, the American Society of Nutrition and the Gerontological Society of America. In 2023, Dr. Lee received the Bio-Serve Award in Experimental Animal Nutrition from the American Society of Nutrition.
