The Dietary Assessment Unit (DAU) provides services and expertise in all steps of dietary data assessment including data collection, coding, cleaning, management and analysis. The unit is equipped to collect and process food records, 24-hour dietary recalls, food frequency questionnaires, brief assessment tools, and other dietary intake and behavior questionnaires. The Dietary Assessment Unit maintains a centralized, consistent and high standard of quality-controlled dietary data collection services. The HNRCA holds a license for the Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR) developed by the Nutrition Coordinating Center, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, which offers standardized dietary data collection methodology, and allows for quality-controlled data entry and nutrient calculations.
