Assistant Professor/Scientist in Women's Health Disparities and AI-Enabled Precision Health
This position is part of the Health Equity Cluster in the Connecting the Community of Tufts Scholars (CCTS) program, jointly funded by the participating school(s) and the Office of the Provost/Senior Vice President. Faculty hired into this cluster will foster collaborative and interdisciplinary research, scholarship, teaching, and community engagement efforts centering on health outcomes for racially and/or ethnically marginalized groups, both locally and globally. CCTS cohorts will receive mentoring to advance innovative approaches and interventions to the ways they address health disparities and various other factors that impact health, such as structural drivers (e.g., economic, environmental), community context, healthcare, and other social determinants. Additionally, they will partake in robust professional development opportunities, which connect faculty to various resources and support structures at Tufts University.
About the Position
The Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University is seeking a talented junior scientist to join our interdisciplinary team focused on addressing women's health disparities across the lifespan through AI-enabled precision health and health equity research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead innovative research programs examining women's health inequities as they pertain to health span, with a focus on older women from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds.
- Apply artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets and develop predictive models for targeted interventions.
- Investigate the intersectionality of race and gender in health disparities, particularly in aging and chronic disease.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Tufts University to advance health equity research.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a relevant field such as nutrition science, epidemiology, biostatistics, or computer science.
- Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML applications in health research.
- Strong potential to direct independent research, engage in team science, and secure grant funding.
- A commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive research environment.
About the HNRCA
The Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University is one of six human nutrition research centers in the United States supported by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), the intramural research branch of the USDA. Located on the Tufts Health Sciences campus in downtown Boston, the HNRCA provides a strong research environment that involves multiple laboratories engaging in cellular and molecular studies, animal studies, human metabolic research, and epidemiological studies.
The HNRCA offers extensive services, including a 25,000 square foot human nutrition metabolic research unit, an AAALAC-accredited animal facility, a clinical chemistry laboratory, mass spectrometry, biostatistics, data management, and pre-award research support.
