Biography

Dr. Andres Ardisson Korat is a Scientist II and focuses his research on food, nutrition and geriatric syndromes. He joined the HNRCA in 2021 from a position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in cancer epidemiology with the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He was also a Predoctoral Fellow in nutritional epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health under the mentorship of Frank Hu. His thesis was titled “Dairy fat intake and incident type-2 diabetes.” During his training he received NIH support, including a pre-doctoral T32 NRSA Diversity Supplement Award and as a postdoc, an T32 NIH training grant in cancer epidemiology.



Dr. Ardisson Korat also worked as a scientist in the food industry, leading projects to incorporate whole grains, fiber and micronutrients in various food products as well as successfully reformulated several product lines to reduce sodium levels and remove partially hydrogenated oils. He also led a collaborative research program to explore sodium reduction technologies in partnership with universities and private sector stakeholders. He earned his Sc.D. in Nutrition and Epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, an MS in Food Science and Technology from Cornell University and a BS in Food Industries Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores in Monterrey (ITESM), Mexico. He also earned a Culinary Arts Certificate from Collin College.
