Biography Dr. Chun Liu is Scientist II on the Nutrition and Cancer Biology Team at the HNRCA. Dr. Liu’s research has focused on molecular mechanisms of carotenoids and retinoids in relation to inflammation and carcinogenesis in the lung, stomach, liver, and colon. He has twenty years’ experience researching nutrition and cancer with a focus on gastrointestinal and respiratory systems and is an expert in histopathology, molecular biology, and nutritional biochemistry. He received his M.D. from Harbin Medical University in China and his master’s degree in Nutrition from a Joint Program of Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, and University of the Philippines. Dr. Liu served for 9 years in regulatory and scientific affairs of nutrition and food products and in directing international nutrition intervention studies at the China Ministry of Health and served as a consultant for the World Health Organization. He has been lead author in a number of high-impact medical journals, such as Gastroenterology, Cancer Research, Cancer Prevention Research, Cancer, and Carcinogenesis.
