 Laboratory Director, Neuroscience and Aging Laboratory

The Jean Mayer United States Department of Agriculture Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) at Tufts University is seeking a visionary leader of international stature to lead its research program in neuroscience and aging within the context of nutrition.

HNRCA is the largest research center in the world devoted to studying the role of nutrition in healthy aging and in the prevention of age-related chronic and infectious diseases. The HNRCA is one of only six human nutrition research centers in the United States supported by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), the intramural research branch of the USDA. Located on the Tufts health sciences campus in downtown Boston and adjacent to Tufts Medical Center which houses the Tufts Center for Neuroscience Research, the HNRCA is uniquely positioned to contribute to both human nutrition and aging research. While the HNRCA is a joint undertaking of the USDA and Tufts University, all but a few of its 270 scientists and staff are Tufts employees. During 2010, the HNRCA carried out a strategic planning effort, in which Nutrition and Neuroscience was identified as the number one priority for the next five years (http://hnrca.tufts.edu).

Qualifications:

  • M.D. and/or Ph.D., with established record of publications and funding in translational research related to brain aging appropriate for appointment at the equivalent rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
  • Record of scientific leadership and ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team of investigators.
  • Ability to build upon and expand rich collaborative activities with other research teams at the HNRCA, Tufts, and USDA-ARS.
